500AI is a directory of people building AI, with links to their public work. Coverage is incomplete and affiliations may be out of date.
Coverage and discovery
Search connects people to public work in our saved records. Paper, DOI, and repository links match those records; a missing result does not mean someone did not contribute.
Older records appear with “Saved link” in search and an explanation on the profile. Their identities and work links have not been independently revalidated. Confirmed name variants lead to one profile; similar names alone never trigger a merge.
Discovery rotates through eligible saved profiles, limiting repeated affiliations and works. Every eligible profile uses the same selection rule, with no featured projects or personal boosts. It is not a ranking of importance.
Coverage reflects the sources collected so far and is uneven. Source-listed affiliations can be historical. Record dates describe a saved snapshot, not a guarantee that every fact is current. Authorship, code contributions, maintenance, and acknowledgments are distinct.
Saved work credits have not all been independently revalidated. New inferred connections are withheld unless the work and the person have independent supporting evidence. A matching name, a model-generated claim, or a citation count is not identity proof. Project-specific experimental ledgers do not add public credits.
Privacy
We use Google Analytics on pages without a search or profile request. Analytics pauses when you search, to keep typed queries out of analytics. The current search-to-source journey is therefore not fully measured. Your browser temporarily remembers a search so you can return to it from a profile. Profile request drafts stay in your browser until you send them.
Cloudflare also records aggregate request measurements: page category, response category, verified search-crawler status, and response time. These measurements contain no search text, individual page URLs, IP addresses, cookies, or referrers. Request counts include automated traffic and are not visitor counts.
